The Home Caregiving Grant (HCG) provides cash support to families caring for loved ones with permanent moderate disability at home. With grants of $250 to $400 per month, HCG can help offset caregiving costs. This guide explains who qualifies and how to apply.

What is the Home Caregiving Grant?

The Home Caregiving Grant is a monthly cash payout to support families who care for loved ones at home instead of in nursing facilities. It recognizes that home-based care benefits both seniors and the healthcare system while easing the financial burden on families.

Grant Amounts

$400/month for lower-income households (PCHI ≤$1,200)
$250/month for middle-income households (PCHI $1,201-$2,800)

Eligibility Requirements

Both the care recipient and the caregiving household must meet specific criteria to qualify for HCG.

What are ADLs?

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) include: washing, dressing, feeding, toileting, walking, and transferring. A doctor will assess the care recipient's ADL needs.

• Care recipient must be a Singapore Citizen
• Must have permanent moderate disability (requires help with 3+ ADLs)
• Must be living in the community (not in residential care facility)
• Caregiver must be a family member, relative, or friend
• Must not be receiving other home-based care subsidies that overlap

Income Criteria (PCHI)

HCG uses Per Capita Household Income (PCHI) to determine eligibility and grant amount. PCHI is calculated by dividing total household income by the number of household members.

PCHI Calculation

PCHI = Total Monthly Household Income ÷ Number of Household Members
Example: $6,000 income ÷ 4 members = $1,500 PCHI (eligible for $250/month)

• PCHI ≤ $1,200: Eligible for $400/month
• PCHI $1,201 - $2,800: Eligible for $250/month
• PCHI > $2,800: Not eligible for HCG
• Annual Value of home ≤ $21,000 (for $400 tier)

Application for HCG involves a needs assessment and income verification. The process typically takes 4-6 weeks.
